Arcade-Inspired Football for Playdate

Alright, listen up, retro gaming aficionados! Introducing Super Kick Ball 1982 – a Playdate™ proof of concept that pretends to be a football game. Inspired by those old-school arcade and 16-bit classics, this little gem is crafted by yours truly, a lone indie dev.

How to play:

1. Point the crank in the direction you want your character to move.
2. Press DOWN on the D-pad.
3. Good luck.

PS: At the moment the bouncy circles and triangles are extra lives and energy. You can get those, but the game won’t stop if you get to 0 anyway.

Installing on your Playdate™:

1. Download the zipped pdx file
2. Upload pdx file to https://play.date/account/sideload/
3. Game files will be sent to your device

Features (if you can call them that):

• Classic Arcade Gameplay: Relive the so-called golden age of football games with directional controls based on THE CRANK. Because it's a Playdate game you know?
• Dynamic Animation: Smooth and responsive? Sure, let's go with that. Enjoy some pixel art that I drew with my own hands on an iPad.
• Challenging Opponents: Face off against AI that may or may not have a clue what it's doing. It does not.
• Immersive Soundtrack: Tunes that will keep you... awake, hopefully.
• Not that Easy to Learn. Even Harder to Master: Because who doesn't love a good challenge.

Upcoming Features (in my dreams):

• Multiplayer Mode: Imagine playing against friends, if I ever get around to it. You might be able to compare scores, and that's about it.
• Expanded Teams and Leagues: More players? More teams? Maybe one day.
• Customizable Players: Dress up your players, because why not? (If I manage to do this, things are going really well)
